Hal Ackerman has been on the UCLA screenwriting faculty for twenty-two years, and his book, “Write Screenplays that Sell, the Ackerman Way”, one of the most highly-recommended texts on the craft of movie writing for over a decade. Hal has sold material to major studios, independents, and three networks, as well as being published in numerous literary journals. His play, “Testosterone, How Prostate Cancer Made a Man of Me”, runs April 18 through May 11, 2008 at the Powerhouse Theater in Santa Monica. On March 11, 2008, Hal was awarded the top Prize in the Warren Adler Short story Contest.
